Strategic Analysis' Advanced Concepts and Intelligence Support (ACIS) Division was formed to address the increasing complex issues related to defense and national security. Specifically the division is focused on understanding the impact of emerging unconventional threats, irregular warfare and changes in the global environment. It recognizes the key role played by intelligence in understanding current developments and future challenges. It accomplishes its objectives by conducting research, analysis and studies and providing SETA services to federal government organizations and agencies.
Since its inception, ACIS has supported cultural and human terrain team operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. It has also conducted an extensive study on the status of irregular warfare-related training being conducted within the U.S. military, the federal government, and civil institutions of higher learning. Additionally, the ACIS division is exploring new and creative programs and products to support on-going operations and requirements.
SA has provided operational analysis of irregular warfare engagement operations and activities within the educational domain as part of an Irregular Warfare Training and Education Development effort that ended in May 2009.
